Welcome to another round of fantastic posts from our lifestyle photography blog circle. I always love seeing what these talented ladies have been up to!

Our theme this month is “A Day in the Life.” So long story short, I found this a challenge… I’m working a lot and my kids are at the age where they don’t really do much that’s “cute” anymore. Today was their last free day before school starts, so we went out to do a few things and I tried to do some documenting. I didn’t get much – they aren’t always cooperative subjects and they don’t tend to stay in one place for very long! But here is a tiny glimpse into part of our day today.

We first went to the library. My daughter is a HUGE reader and goes through books like water. My son likes to read too, but he has to be really interested in the subject and he doesn’t often read just for fun. Peer pressure has worked on him somewhat, though–thanks to his friends he read all the Hunger Games books in just a couple days while we were on vacation this summer, and apparently someone told him about the Redwall series and he’s going to start reading those. Thankfully it’s a huge series and should keep him busy for a while!

You might remember from previous posts that my daughter isn’t really a fan of the camera. This was the best I got from her. She is into fantasy (mermaids, fairies, dragons, unicorns… and she read all the Harry Potter books over the spring and summer) and this is her most recent favorite author.

We also did some swimming at our town lake. It was actually my first time there because they always require a permit, but I just found out that we don’t need a permit now that the official season is over. It was a great ending to our afternoon. My son’s favorite beach activity is digging in the sand, which my daughter does some of too, but she would much rather be in the water.
